WARSAW FILM SCHOOL AND ITS ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION in 2015

One of our great alumni by the name of Tomasz Śliwiński was the first student of the Warsaw Film School to get nominated for an Oscar in 2015 for a short documentary film that he wrote and directed.
Warsaw Film School being the producer.

The movie was entitled "OUR CURSE" and it was a personal statement of the director and his wife, who have to deal with a very rare and incurable disease of their newborn child Leo – the Ondine’s Curse (also known as CCHS, congenital central hypoventilation syndrome). Little Leo stops breathing during sleep and requires a lifetime mechanical ventilation on a respirator. The film shows how young parents cope and tame with the fear associated with the disease. The story of the film characters is presented on the blog:www.leoblog.pl

The film premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival and was screened at over 40 festival around the world.
